Maintenance Manager - Yanbu Cement Company

Job Purpose:

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring that the production equipment is in perfect working condition and is available for use, at the lowest cost (analyse and follow-up of incidents), carry out feasibility studies and estimate the cost of capital expenditure necessary for improving the plant operations, and as a part of the management team, ensure coordination and cooperation between his and other departments.


Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Develops working method in his field: defines procedures and ensures that they are implemented.

  • Defines and implements the preventive and predictive inspection process in conjunction with the production manager.

  • Settles maintenance and new works problems on a daily basis.

  • Defines and implements preventive action plans.

  • Looks for and puts forward solutions for solving technical problems so as to optimize equipment reliability.

  • Ensures proper scheduling and planning of works and resources.

  • Responsible for the choice of work to be subcontracted, the selection of the contractor and the quality of the work, prepares and negotiates contracts with subcontractors.

  • Prepares, submits and controls the annual and tri-annual maintenance budget.

  • Sets relevant performance indicators and monitors their evolution.

  • Earries out or leads preliminary studies on expenditure requests.

  • Manages the completion and commissioning of maintenance and new works performed to improve equipment performance.

  • Contributes to the establishment of internal safety rules and regulations.

  •  Manages teams: defines the missions and objectives of his workforce and carries out their performance reviews, promotes the quality of the work and motivates his personnel, develops their skill to keep abreast of technical developments.

  • Implement technical policies and doctrines (Three Year Technical Plan for the theme: Reliability and Maintenance).

  • Facilitates communication and industrial relations: 

          - Conducts department meetings regularly.

          - Conveys management policies to the sub-ordinates.

          - Communicates results to the top management.

  • Develops and implements a training plan.

  • In liaison with the purchase manager participates in the negotiations with suppliers.

  • Ensures compliance of all electrical/mechanical equipment in accordance with Lafarge/local safety regulations. 

  • Keeps himself informed of general plant activities so as to ensure “on-call” duty.
